Since around when Count Up Dracula released in mid-2024, Jaydes has been experimenting with Punk and Rock. As of late he's been working with an actual band instead of just taking other bands' instrumentals, releasing it under the group name Yen. This was leaked a few weeks ago and then officially released in almost the exact same state it was before.
In Your Face opens up with an actually catchy riff, until Jaydes starts yelling and ruins the track. Of course it's expected to be badly recorded but this album just feels so tryhard in every element including the recording quality. With some harder hitting mixing some of these tracks could maybe be salvaged despite their many shortcomings, as it stands the songs generally feel very flat. Jaydes occasionally has a nice performance like on Not a Phase but for most of the tracklist incoherently stumbles through the songs. I wish he did more melodic songs like the aforementioned one because when he's doing the rougher voice it gets miserably bad. The mixing or lack thereof takes away all the possible punch the vocals could have though they might just be completely unfixable. The lyrics are mostly just Punk-drivel with none of the energy to back it up, not even saved by the production. Nothing special, very forgettable and pathetic. Finna Fuckin Throw Up is one of the few tracks that are different from the leaked version of this album, the change being that its audio is just reversed now. I understand trolling leakers but the album is too short to throw away a whole track for it.
I get the impression Jaydes just doesn't care anymore and is making music purely for himself, resulting in some of the laziest music I've heard in a while. A big chunk of his fanbase will still eat it up though because it's 'intentionally terrible'.
