Seven Minutes of Nausea are a beloved Australian Noisecore group. From 1985-90 they were originally a duo with Scut on drums/bass and Mick Hollows on vocals until their breakup and eventual reunion. This EP is comprised of a gimmicky 300+ tracks at 13 minutes in length.
What you'll immediately notice differentiates 7MON from their peers in the genre is the production. The drums are impressive in how flat they sound despite the fast playing and attempt at intensity. Instead of a standard electric one, they're well-known for using an acoustic guitar instead. It's certainly an interesting sound but it just isn't good at all, lacking the necessary severity a release in this sound needs. I don't doubt it's probably fun as a live experience though. Mick is an okay vocalist, delivering some harsh vocals though he can't save the rest of it. A few times there are parts where the playing slows down and he sounds more intelligible which is neat, at least serving as a break from the usual sound.
Our Culture is Boring is a strange release, at times charming but doesn't grab my attention outside of its novelty. I will say though it's one of the more experimental releases in this section of Punk but it's not worth it being bad.
